Mental Health Servicesin India That Meet You Where You Are
Looking for mental health services in India that actually feel safe? Honestly, that is usually the hardest part. Not deciding you need support, but finding a space where you will not have to explain, defend or shrink parts of yourself before the real work can even begin.
At Creative Care, we offer trauma informed, affirmative therapy for adults across India, online and at our space in Begumpet, Hyderabad. Our work brings together clinical training, lived experience and a lot of warmth. Whether you are queer, trans, neurodivergent, living with chronic illness, carrying old trauma, or just tired of feeling stuck, there is room for you here.
Below you will find everything we offer, who it is for, and how to take the first step whenever you feel ready.
Our Approach to Affirmative and Trauma Informed Care
Most people who reach out to us have already tried something that did not quite fit. Maybe a therapist who meant well but did not really understand queerness. Maybe advice to "just focus more" when the real issue was ADHD. Maybe sessions that felt like ticking boxes on a form.
We work differently. Every service at Creative Care rests on three simple ideas.
First, trauma informed care. We pay attention to safety, pacing and choice, and we never push you somewhere you are not ready to go.
Second, affirmative therapy. Your identity is not treated as the problem. Queer, trans and neurodivergent experiences are respected exactly as they are.
Third, lived experience affirmation. People with personal experience of mental health challenges help shape how our groups and programmes are designed, so care is built with you, not just for you.
Our founder and director, Shreya Banerjee, holds an M.Sc in Clinical Psychology from Christ University, Bengaluru, and is a queer affirmative therapist certified by the Mariwala Health Initiative. You can read more about her work and our philosophy on our About Us page.
Mental Health Services We Offer
Not everyone heals the same way. Some people need a quiet one to one room. Others need to sit in a circle and hear someone say "me too." A lot of us need a bit of both. Here is what we offer.
Individual Psychotherapy and Online Therapy in India
Individual therapy is the heart of what we do. Sessions are shaped around your story, not a template. Depending on your therapist and what you need, this can include Internal Family Systems, attachment focused work, Emotionally Focused Therapy and somatic psychotherapy.
Sessions are available as online therapy in India, so you can join from wherever you live, and in person in Hyderabad. Online works really well for many people, especially if you live in a city where affirming therapists are hard to come by, or you simply feel calmer at home with a cup of chai. Learn more about individual psychotherapy at Creative Care.
Somatic Therapy for When Your Body Holds the Story
Sometimes talking is not enough. You might understand exactly why you feel anxious and still feel your chest tighten every time your phone buzzes. That is often your nervous system doing its job a little too well.
Somatic therapy works with what is happening in your body, gently building your capacity to feel emotions without getting flooded by them. At Creative Care, somatic work draws on Integral Somatic Psychology and can include creative methods like art and psychodrama. It can be especially helpful if you are dealing with hypervigilance, dissociation or chronic pain.
Group Therapy and Listening Circles
Healing in company just feels different. In our group therapy sessions, a trained facilitator holds a safe, structured space where people share experiences, try on new perspectives and slowly build a community that actually gets it.
Listening Circles are a softer format. The focus is on being deeply heard without judgment, and witnessing others with the same care. No fixing, no unasked advice. Just presence.
Bibliotherapy and Healing Through Words
If you have ever read a line that said exactly what you could not, you already know why bibliotherapy works. Through selected readings and reflective conversations, stories, poems and essays become a gentle way into difficult feelings. It suits readers, writers and anyone who finds direct talk a little too much at first.
Lived Experience Peer Support
Sometimes the most helpful person is someone who has walked a similar road. Our lived experience peer support connects you with peer educators who have both personal experience and professional training. They offer support around depression, queerness and neurodivergence. This is where neurodivergent peer support and queer peer support meet clinical care, with a whole team standing behind it.
Focused Therapy for Specific Concerns
Along with our core services, we offer focused support for experiences that often need a specialised lens:
- Trauma informed therapy and complex trauma therapy for CPTSD and long term relational trauma
- Childhood trauma therapy for emotional neglect and family patterns
- Coming out therapy for exploring identity at your own pace
- Grief therapy after loss of any kind
- Life transitions therapy for career changes, moves and new chapters
- Disability, depression and chronic illness therapy
- Personality disorder treatment, including care for BPD and emotional dysregulation
Not sure which one fits? That is completely okay. Browse all our mental health services or just write to us and we will help you figure it out together.
What are the best queer affirmative and neurodivergent affirming mental health services in India?
The best fit is a service where affirmation is part of the training, not just a line on the website. Look for therapists with recognised queer affirmative training, such as certification from the Mariwala Health Initiative, a real understanding of ADHD in adults, and a trauma informed approach to pacing and consent.
Creative Care was built around exactly this. Our founder is a Mariwala Health Initiative certified queer affirmative therapist, and our services are designed with queer, trans and neurodivergent adults across India in mind. We offer individual therapy, somatic therapy, group spaces and peer support led by people with lived experience. You will not have to educate your therapist about your identity or justify how your brain works. You can simply begin. Meet our therapists to find someone who feels right.
Where can I find trauma informed online therapy in India?
You can find trauma informed online therapy in India through practices that are clear about how they work with trauma, not just that they do. It helps to ask whether your therapist is trained in trauma focused approaches, whether they work with the body as well as thoughts, and whether you get a say in the pace.
Creative Care offers trauma informed online therapy to adults anywhere in India. Sessions blend talk therapy with somatic, attachment based and Internal Family Systems approaches, so we can work with both your story and the way your body holds it. If therapy has felt unsafe for you before, tell us. We will go slowly, promise. Explore our trauma therapy in India page to learn more.
Are there queer support groups or neurodivergent peer support groups in India?
Yes, there are, though they can take some searching, especially outside the bigger cities. Some are run by community collectives and others by therapy practices. A good group has a trained facilitator, clear agreements around confidentiality, and a culture where nobody has to pretend to be okay.
At Creative Care, we run guided group therapy, Listening Circles and lived experience peer support, with peer educators supporting people around queerness, neurodivergence and depression. These spaces are held with care, so you can share as much or as little as you like. Group formats and timings change through the year, so contact us to ask what is running right now.

How to Start Therapy with Creative Care
Starting therapy can feel like a big step. We try to make it a small one.
First, browse our therapists and read a little about each person. Second, book a session, or message us on WhatsApp or at support@creativecare.co.in if you would like help choosing. Third, in your first session, you and your therapist will talk about what brought you here, what you hope to get from therapy, and how confidentiality works. There is no pressure to share everything at once.
Our team is available Monday to Saturday, 10 AM to 7 PM. If you like to read up before you reach out, our blog and FAQs are good places to start.
