Individual Psychotherapy in India, Built Around Your Story
Some things are just hard to carry alone. Maybe it is anxiety that never really switches off. Maybe it is an old hurt that keeps showing up in new relationships. Or maybe you cannot name it at all, you just know something feels heavy and you are tired of pretending it does not.
That is exactly what psychotherapy is for. At Creative Care, individual psychotherapy is a private, one to one space where you work with a trained therapist at your own pace. Our approach is trauma informed, queer affirmative and neurodivergent affirming, which simply means you get to show up as you are. No masking, no explaining your identity from scratch, no feeling like a case file.
Sessions are available online across India and in person at our space in Begumpet, Hyderabad. Below, you will find how our psychotherapy works, the approaches we use, and how to book your first session.
What Individual Psychotherapy at Creative Care Looks Like
A lot of people imagine therapy as lying on a couch while someone takes notes. Honestly, it is much more human than that.
Individual therapy at Creative Care is a conversation between two people, one of whom happens to be trained to notice patterns, hold difficult feelings and help you make sense of them. Your therapist will not hand you a script. Instead, sessions are shaped around your story, your culture, your relationships and what you want to change.
Some sessions might feel like untangling a knot. Others might feel slow and quiet. Some days you might laugh. All of that is normal. Over time, the goal is for you to understand yourself more clearly, feel safer in your own body and mind, and relate to yourself and others with a little more kindness.

Therapy Approaches We Use
There is no single right way to do therapy. Our team brings different training and styles, so you can work with someone whose approach fits you. Here are the main ones.
Internal Family Systems or IFS Therapy
Ever felt like part of you wants to change and another part refuses to budge? IFS works with exactly that. It sees the mind as made up of different parts, each trying to protect you in its own way. Rather than fighting those parts, an IFS therapist helps you get curious about them and respond with compassion. Our founder, Shreya Banerjee, primarily practises IFS with an attachment focused lens, which makes her a good fit if you are searching for an IFS therapist in India.
Emotionally Focused Therapy or EFT
EFT focuses on emotions as a guide rather than something to push away. It helps you notice what you are really feeling underneath reactions like anger, shutting down or people pleasing, and use that understanding to build safer connections. Shreya is internationally certified in EFT, and several of our therapists draw on emotion focused frameworks in their work.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy
Psychodynamic therapy looks at how early emotional experiences shape the way we see ourselves and relate to others today. It is reflective and unhurried, and it suits people who want to understand the deeper roots of their patterns. On our team, Shiuli Das is a psychodynamic psychotherapist who works with identity, self esteem, attachment, anxiety and relationships, so you can work with a dedicated psychodynamic therapist in India.
Somatic and Attachment Based Therapy
Sometimes the body remembers what the mind has filed away. Somatic therapy works with sensations, breath and movement to help your nervous system feel safe again. At Creative Care, this draws on Integral Somatic Psychology and can include creative methods like art and psychodrama. It pairs well with attachment based work, especially for hypervigilance or dissociation.
Can you recommend a queer affirmative psychotherapist in India who offers online therapy?
Yes. Creative Care offers queer affirmative psychotherapy online to adults anywhere in India. Our founder, Shreya Banerjee, is a queer affirmative therapist certified by the Mariwala Health Initiative, and affirmative care runs through every service we offer.
What does that look like in practice? Your therapist will not treat your sexuality or gender as the problem to fix. They understand things like minority stress, family pressure, coming out decisions and the exhaustion of constantly reading a room for safety. If you have been searching for an LGBTQ psychotherapist online in India and kept landing on profiles that only say "queer friendly," this is the difference. Friendly means you are tolerated. Affirmative means you are actually understood.
You can browse our therapists to find someone who feels right, or read about our coming out therapy if identity is a big part of what you want to explore.
Where can I find a neurodivergent affirming therapist in India for ADHD or autism?
You can find neurodivergent affirming therapy at Creative Care, where neurodivergence is treated as a different way of being, not a defect. Our founder works with neurodivergence as a core focus, and therapists like Aastha Khera support adults with ADHD, executive dysfunction, burnout and emotional overwhelm.
An ADHD psychotherapist who is genuinely affirming will not tell you to "just try harder." Instead, therapy helps you understand how your brain works, build systems that actually suit you, and untangle the shame that often builds up after years of being misunderstood. If you are autistic, or wondering whether you might be, let us know when you reach out. We will talk through your needs, like sensory comfort or communication preferences, and help match you with a therapist who feels like a good fit.
For more structured support with daily tasks and finances, Creative Care also has a life admin specialist who works on executive function.
Which trauma informed psychotherapy options are available in India, like IFS, EFT or psychodynamic therapy?
In India, trauma informed psychotherapy options include IFS, EFT, psychodynamic therapy, somatic therapy and attachment based therapy. At Creative Care, you can access all of these through our individual psychotherapy service, online or in Hyderabad.
What makes therapy trauma informed is not just the method, it is how the work is done. A trauma informed psychotherapist pays close attention to safety, choice and pacing. You get a say in what you talk about and how fast you go. Nobody pushes you to relive painful memories before you are ready.
If trauma is a major part of your story, these pages may help too: trauma informed therapy in India, complex trauma therapy and childhood trauma therapy.
What You Can Bring to Therapy
Honestly, anything. You do not need a diagnosis or a crisis to start. People come to individual therapy at Creative Care for things like anxiety, low mood, racing thoughts, procrastination, burnout, low self esteem, relationship patterns, identity questions, childhood trauma, grief and life changes.
If you are going through something specific, you might also find these helpful: grief therapy, life transitions therapy and personality disorder treatment.
And if one to one sessions feel like a lot right now, our group therapy and lived experience peer support are gentler ways to begin.

Each therapist has a profile with their focus areas and session fee, so you can see who you are booking before you commit. Pricing is shown upfront on our therapists page, with no surprises later.
What to Expect in Your First Session
The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. Your therapist will ask what brought you here, what you hope to get from therapy and anything they should know to make sessions feel safe for you. They will also explain how confidentiality works and its few legal limits.
You do not have to share everything at once. It is completely fine to say "I am not ready to talk about that yet." A good therapist will respect that. And if, after a session or two, the fit does not feel right, tell us. Finding the right person matters more than sticking it out.
